You may need to update your Schedule Items register as new work items emerge during the course of your project.
You can easily insert new items in your Schedule Items register and even re-order them if required. This process shows you how to :
2 Re-order (or rearrange) the items
2.1 Use the Force re-order function

1. Insert New Items
1.1 Navigate to the Schedule Items register.
1.2 Click ‘Unlock schedule’ under the ‘Views’ tab (You can right-click on the register to select the same from the dropdown list).
Next, enable editing on the bottom toolbar.
1.3 Click to select the item on the register (either above or below) where you will be inserting your new item. Under the ‘Schedule Operations’ tab, you can select either ‘Insert item (above)’ or ‘Insert item (below)’, depending on where you want to place the item. (You can also right click on the register to select the same.)
Note: If you don’t select an item in the register before inserting, the new item will be placed as the last item on the register.
1.4 The New Schedule Item dialog box will pop up. Enter the details in the fields and click ‘Save & close’.
1.5 You can now see this the new item inserted in the register (in this case, above the item that we had selected in the register).
2. Re-order the items
If you wish to move the item in the register to another position, you can do so easily. With your schedule unlock and editing still enabled (see 1.2 above), select the item to move, and then click, hold and drag it to where you want to place it.
Release the mouse when you see the Blue Curved Arrow as shown below. (The new item will be placed below the item where the arrow is pointing).
You can also move multiple items at once by using ‘Ctrl + Select’ and drag the arrow into the desired position.
Note : If you release it on a Green Arrow, it means that the item will be indented and becomes a sub-item or child item to the item above it. If you have a long list of Schedule Items, creating sub-items or structure can help with the visualisation. See 'Create Structure'.
2.1 Force Re-order
You can also use the ‘Force re-order’ function to arrange the Schedule items according to the Order ID.
2.1a To display the Order ID column in the register, right-click on the heading and select ‘Column Chooser’ from the dropdown list.
2.1b The customization menu will pop up. Select ‘Order ID’, hold your mouse and drag it to where you want to place along the headings.
2.1c You can now see the Order ID column on your register. Under ‘Schedule Operations’, click ‘Force re-order” on the top toolbar. This will re-order the items in numerical sequence from lowest to highest. To learn how to save your register view, see Set and Save Custom Views in Registers (D).
Note: You can edit the Order ID fields but only numbers are supported.
