What is a Checklist?
Checklists are a field document. Originally they were only completed by printing them and signing them off by hand. Civil Pro simply managed the content of the original document. In this [mostly pre mobile] world, a checklist could be presented to the client for sign off as a record of hold point/witness point release. This still leaves some holes – for example;
- Some sign offs require notification be given a defined duration in advance. For example, the Principal may require notification 24 hours in advance for inspection of a concrete pour. The checklist provides no way to confirm notification has been granted in a timely way – this may especially be a problem where the client contractor relationship isn’t the best…
- There is no way to provide a summary of required sign-offs. For example, if there are 20 concrete pours required on Wednesday, there is no easy way to record this and communicate it to the Principal with Checklists.
- Not every approval is tied neatly to a lot. For example, approval of an inspection test plan – which in some specifications is a hold point requiring 10 days notice.
What is the purpose of the Checklists Register?
The Civil Pro Checklist Register is the hub for you to mange all of your checklists and the best way to generate the composite reports you need to get checked off. The Checklist register has many powerful functions to help you create, manage and use checklists.
When you need a Checklist for a Lot, simply select the template from the Specification Register and a copy is made and attached to the Lot. It can either be used as is, or customised without affecting the original template. Users can then print a hard copy to be completed manually in the field (refer to the below screenshot), or complete the Checklist electronically using the Civil Pro Mobile app. The sign-offs for the Checklist are defined by shaded and unshaded boxed as defined in the Checklist View.
