You can filter your search to customize your view of the following registers and save your custom view. The purpose of doing this is to allow you quick access to views that you frequently use without having to filter your registers each time.
- Project Register
- Lot Register
- Test Requests
- NCR
- Approvals
- Quantity
- Progress Claims
- Schedule Items
The Views panel also has several pre-built Views for easy access and also allows you to create your preferred "Default" view and save it.
When saving your custom views, there are two options : User Custom Views and Project Custom Views. Use this table to decide which option to use:
Features | User Custom Views | Project Custom Views |
View can be restricted to one user | Yes | No |
View can be shared with other selected users | Yes |
No (the view is accessible to all users of the project - no selection of users can be made) |
View is limited to a single project by default |
No (unless the 'Save to this Project Only' box is selected). |
Yes |
View is replicated across all other projects by default |
Yes (unless the 'Save to this Project Only' box is selected). |
No |
This process shows you how to:
- Set up and Save User Custom Views
- Share User Customer Views with other selected users
- Save Project Custom Views
- How to use special names -'Default' and 'Mobile'
1. User Custom Views
User Custom Views are saved custom views that :
- can only be viewed by the user who created them unless they are shared with other users
- are replicated across all other projects accessible by the user (who created the view) unless the 'Save to this Project Only" box is ticked
1.1 Navigate to the register you would like to view. Use the “Search” function to filter your register by entering the key words.
In this example, we are in the Lot Register and searching for Lots with the key words "WNB". After typing the keywords in the search field, press "Enter".
1.2 Your register will display the filtered view with all the lots that display the keywords.
Click on the “Views” icon on the right panel, then under 'User Custom Views' click 'SAVE VIEW'.
1.3 In the dialog box, enter a name for your custom view and click “Save”. In this example, we are naming our custom view "WNB Lots".
Note: Ticking the 'Save to this Project Only' box will limit the saved custom view to only the project that you currently in.
1.4 Under User Custom Views, you can now see the name of your saved view e.g. WNB Lots. Click on this to bring up your custom view. To go back to standard view, click on “Standard” under Views.
Share User Custom Views
Note: To share custom views, your role must have 'admin' in Project Administration.
1.5 To share your user custom view with another user, simply click on the 'three dots' next to the name of the custom view you want to share.
1.6 Select 'Share'.
1.7 First, select the correct project name at the top right corner, then select the users. Click 'Save'.
Note: You'll be prompted to enter a name for the custom view. You can use the same name or enter a different name. After the view is shared, the selected users will be able to view and access the custom view in the same register under User Custom Views.
2. Project Custom Views
Note: To add Project Custom Views, your role must have 'Add' permission in Project Administration.
There is also an option for you to save your register view as a Project Custom View which allows:
- everyone invited to the project to access the custom view
- the custom view to be limited to the project only
2.1 After filtering your register to a desired view, click on the “Views” icon on the right panel, then under 'Project Custom Views' click 'SAVE VIEW'.
2.2 In the dialog box, enter a name for your custom view.
2.3 Under Project Custom Views, you can now see the name of your saved view e.g. EVG. Click on this to bring up your custom view. To go back to standard view, click on “Standard” under Views.
3. Special Names - "Default" and "Mobile"
There are two special names for the custom views: Default and Mobile.
Naming your view Default will load your custom view as the default view for the register when you enter CivilPro. If there is no Default View the inbuilt Standard view is loaded instead.
Naming your view Mobile will load your custom view as the default view when using a mobile device. If there is no Mobile View then the Default View will be loaded instead, and if there is no Default View then the inbuilt Standard View will be loaded.
3.1 When you save a particular view as "Default", it will become your default view when you open the register instead of the standard view. You can still switch to the standard view by using the "Views" panel.
3.2 You can also use the shortcut icon on the register to return to your "Default" view, after you have finished using other views.
