Any column that has a dropdown option ( e.g. a custom field that you've created using custom register) will be supported by the Fill Down/Up feature. This feature allows you to select and populate a column of cells with the same value all at once without having to select the value for each cell individually.
This feature is enabled in the following columns:
- Lot Register
- Custom register columns
- Cost Codes
- Custom register columns
- ITP Detail
- Item Type
- HP | WP | Check
- Incl. ITP?
- Incl. QVC?
- Inspect Required
- Verify Required
- Authority Required
- Inspection Method
- Records
- Responsibility
- Clause
- Forecast detail
- QTD Method

To use this function, you need to enable Fill Down/Up in the form you are using. The reason for this is that, by default CivilPro selects the entire row when navigating the grid – the Fill function requires that you select cells within a column. This function changes the selection mode.
Once you have entered fill mode, select the cells you want to fill, and press either Ctrl + Alt + D (Fill down) or Ctr + Alt + U (Fill Up). This will copy…
- the value in the topmost cell to the other cells (fill down); or
- the value in the bottom-most cell to the other cells (fill up)
Click the symbol above to enter full screen mode
Another example showing how Fill Up/Down is used to populate custom fields in a Lot register quickly :
Say you want to populate the 'Managers" column with the same name in the Lot register. Under the Operations tab, click on "Enable fill up/down", then enable editing on the bottom toolbar.
Select the cells to populate using 'Shift+select', then enter 'Ctrl + Alt + D' to populate the cells downwards. The value will be the same as the topmost cell.
Pro Tip: If you make a mistake, delete the value in the topmost cell and use the 'Ctrl + Alt + D' to empty all the cells downwards.
