1) What can be migrated and cannot be migrated from CivilPro Desktop v10 to the new CivilPro Plan?
Everything in v10 database can be migrated except for Custom Reports. However, Custom Reports are still supported in v12 and can be recreated in v12.
If you have any custom reports in v10 and have questions about recreating them in v12, please let us know when you request your upgrade.
2) What are the steps involved when I upgrade my CivilPro Desktop V10?
1. You will need to prepare and provide us with a full backup of your database and all of the filestore documents from your CivilPro Desktop v10. If you require help with this step, we can help you. It is important that you do your data backup on the day we do the migration as any updates or tasks done in CivilPro v10 after the backup, will not be migrated. Hence, we usually schedule migrations to take place on weekends but can work with you if you would like your migration to take place on weekdays.
2. Next, the migration begins which can take several hours to a day and we will schedule it outside of regular business hours so you will have no downtime during your working hours. Once this is done your service will be restored to normal and you can then sign in and use the new version of the CivilPro Application.
3. The v12 Web apps allow for direct Authentication of your desktop accounts, so there is no need for any license keys. After your migration, you will receive instructions on how to connect your Desktop v12 App to the Cloud App.
3) Do users have to re-learn CivilPro when they upgrade?
CivilPro Desktop v12 has pretty much the same design as Desktop v10, but with added features and more tools for users. Although CivilPro Cloud may look different in design, all its features are built based on the Desktop platform.
Many of our desktop users have moved from v10 to the new CivilPro plan with no problems. In addition, our Cloud platform is very intuitive and you'll have access to many resources with step-by-step instructions and video tutorials in our HelpCentre to guide you.
4) Why is the new subscription plan more expensive than the desktop v10?
Compared to Desktop v10, the new subscription plan includes both the Cloud and Desktop v12 applications with a connected database. Both applications have improved and additional features and are regularly reviewed and updated by our developers. In addition, you'll receive ongoing full technical support and regular product updates from our CivilPro team.
5) I have an ongoing project and I'm concerned about any interruption when I upgrade. What is the downtime?
The downtime is only for about half a day and you can schedule in advance with our team to implement the migration at a time convenient to you.
6) What if I choose to stay with Desktop V10 and not upgrade?
You can still continue to use Desktop v10.
However, you'll not be able to enjoy the full benefits of using CivilPro as Desktop v10 will no longer be updated and supported by our team.
7) What preparations do I have to make for my data migration to the new software?
The two things the CivilPro Team needs is a full backup of your existing database (v10) and a copy of all the filestore documents currently in CivilPro. If you need help getting either of these prepared, please discuss with our team who can assist with this.
8) What benefits do I get for upgrading to the new versions of CivilPro? What kind of support and resources will I get for Cloud and Desktop v12?

We strongly recommend that you stop using Desktop v10 after migration as running V10 alongside v12 can create issues with your databases. After migration, you should use only the new applications from your new CivilPro plan.
