Now that your Plans are registered, they are able to be used for a range of things in CivilPro. Further functionality will be rolled out over time, but they key uses for Plans currently are:
- For defining Lots
- For defining locations of Test Requests
- For presenting multiple annotations on a single Plan (e.g. all Conformed Lots in a certain location)
Defining Lots
After creating a Lot, in the Spatial tab, there are two expandable sections
- Chainage Definitions - this is where we define a Lot by chainage on a Control Line
- Plan/Map Definitions - this where we define a Lot by annotating a Plan
Chainage Definitions:
Click on the 'ADD CHAINAGE' button. In this popup we define the shape of our Lot based on a selected Control Line.
- Mapped Control Lines - filters to Control Lines that have coordinates
- All Control Lines - shows all Control Lines in the Control Line register
- Control Line - here we select a Control Line (based on above filter selection)
- Do Not Project - Control Line will not be mapped as a geometry (and shown on Plans)
- Name - provide a different name to the default
- Shape - select whether the Lot should be a Polygon, Line or a single Point (a typical roading Lot would be a Polygon)
After selecting a Control Line, and inputting values to define the Lot relative to the Control Line (as shown in image above), click Save.
We can now see our Control Line defined in the 'Chainages' section, and the corresponding Geometry that was automatically created on the Plan.
To see your newly created Lot, click 'View Plan'. After selecting a Plan, the Lot Markup window will appear with the newly defined Lot shown.
Click Save and Close to exit this window, then proceed in finalising the new Lot.
Plan/Map Definitions
Click on the 'VIEW ON PLAN' button. In this popup we define the shape of our Lot by annotating a Plan.
After selecting a Plan, the Lot Markup window will appear. Here, we will define our Lot by clicking Add then selecting Polygon, Line or Point and mark out the bounds of our Lot.
Use Backspace to undo the last point placed. Close the polygon by double-clicking or clicking near the starting point.
A popup will appear asking whether you'd like to provide a name for the element or accept the default (Lot Number). You can now add more Geometries associated with the Lot, of click Done.
After accepting, the Lot will appear on the Plan. If you need to make changes to the extent of the Lot, just click on the Lot and select Edit.
If you'd like to use adjacent Lots as a reference when marking out this Lot, we can use the Find function.
Click Save & Close, then proceed in finalising the new Lot.
What next?
Now that you've defined Lots spatially, you can now view and present multiple Lots or features in the same window using Plan Snapshots.
