Defining Lots on Plans (D)

From the Lot Register, select New Lot from the Operations tab. Add relevant details and progress through tabs to the Spatial tab.

In this tab, we can define a Lot by:

  • Chainage - define Lot start chainage, end chainage, and offsets.
  • Geometries - define Lot by marking up on our Plans. Useful for defining Clear and Grub Lots that don't necessarily follow a Control Line

Defining a Lot using Chainage

Select the Add Chainage icon as shown below, then:

  • select Control Line
  • select Polygon, Line / Polyline or Point
  • input values

Note: If you don't require your Lot to be shown on Plans, select Do Not Map. You'd select this if you haven't added any Plans into CivilPro, but still want to define Lots using chainages on Control Lines.

Click Save.

CivilPro has now defined your Lot by chainage, but has also created a 2D geometry for your Lot - as seen in the Geometries grid. To view this geometry, click on the Add Geometries icon:

Defining a Lot using Geometries

Select the Add Geometries icon as shown below.

Select Define Polygon to define Lot extent. When marking out, use Backspace to remove last point. Click on the first point to close the polygon and create a geometry (visible in the Geometries grid bottom-right).

You'll be prompted to add an alternative name for the Geometry if you wish. If you need to delete a geometry, click Select, click the geometry, then click Delete Selected Shape.

Note: Multiple geometries can be create for a single Lot ('entity')

Click Save All & Close.

You have now defined your Lots in 2D space. You can now search by area, show Lots in Google Maps, show Lots atop drone imagery...all in a spatially accurate way.

Next up, we'll learn how to create Plan Snapshots (D) to show multiple Lots and features in the same window.
