Format File for Import

In CivilPro , there is an option to import data in Excel files (from Clipboard or as CSV files). However, only specific data can be imported. CivilPro can only identify and capture data in your file that aligns with the importable values in its system.

The following table outlines what can be imported:

Table A

Available For:  Importable Values (max characters) (*mandatory)
Work Types
  • Work Type* (Codes) (2-8)
  • Description*
Area Codes
  • Area Codes* (2-8)
  • Description*
Control Lines
  • Control Lines* (Codes)
  • Description*
Inspection Test Plan (ITP)
  • Description*
  • Clause
  • Responsibility
  • Records
  • Inspection Method
Schedule Items
  • Schedule Number
  • Description*
  • Scheduled Quantity (15)
  • Unit (10)
  • DJC Rate (15)
  • Sell Rate (15)

Hence, it is important that you format your files before importing to align your data correctly in CivilPro Cloud. Use the following points as your guide when formatting:

  • Include only the data that can be imported (hierarchical data cannot be imported)
  • No merged or split cells
  • No empty cells between rows or columns
  • Headings can be included but these can be added later in CivilPro if not imported
  • Align the Headings/Columns in your file with the importable values shown in Table A
  • Most columns have character limits, for example, "Units" columns typically have a 10-character limit (including space). "Description" columns tend to have more character allowance but you should always include the most relevant information only. If your values are too long, you'll get an error message when importing your file.

Below are a few examples of how the data in your Excel files should look and their corresponding values as they appeared in CivilPro Cloud:
