Create a Test Request from a Checklist

This guide outlines the process of generating a new test request directly from a Checklist line item, automatically calculating the required number of tests based on the lot length / area / volume and the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) configuration.

1. Initiate the Test Request

  • Navigate to your current Checklist.

  • Locate the specific line item that requires testing (ensure the "Check Item" box is ticked).

  • Right-click on the line item row.

  • Select New Test Request from the context menu.

2. Enter Request Details

  • The Lot number will automatically pull through from the checklist.

  • Test Request To: Select the user responsible for the testing from the dropdown menu.

  • Description: Enter a brief description of the work (e.g., "Compaction testing").

  • Geometry: Review the Chainage and Offset and Lot Area (e.g., 2,600m2). This data is usually pulled automatically from the Lot geometry.

  • Click Next.

3. Retrieve Tests from ITP

  • In the Tests tab, click the Add Tests from ITP button in the top right corner.

  • A "Retrieve from ITP" window will appear displaying the relevant test methods linked to that checklist line item.

4. Configure Test Quantities

  • Filter Selection: Ensure the filter at the top is set to Checklist Line to see tests associated with the specific item. (Alternatively, select "Lot" to see all tests associated with the entire Lot, or "Checklist" for tests within the Checklist).

  • Assign Quantity: Set the target quantity for which frequency for each test is based on (length/ area/ volume):

    1. Select the test rows you wish to calculate (or select all).

    2. Locate the Select Quantity dropdown at the top.

    3. Choose the relevant parameter (e.g., Lot area: 2600).

    4. Click Assign to Selected. Alternatively, set each line individually.

5. Verify and Save

  • Review Calculations: The system will automatically calculate the "Tests this req" based on your ITP formulas (e.g., Length / Area / Frequency).

    • Note: The system respects minimum test requirements. For example, if a calculation results in 2 tests but the ITP requires a minimum of 4, the system will set the count to 4.

  • Double Check: Always verify the calculated number of tests meets your project requirements. CivilPro cannot provide any guarantees or warranties resulting from use of the information contained.

  • Click Save.

The Test Request is now generated with the specific number of tests required, and can be sent to the tester.
