New to CivilPro? This guide walks you through setting up your project and the requisite QA registers, in order, before you create your first Lot and start your QA workflows.
Important: use the CivilPro Web App for setup – especially for inviting users, as CivilPro Desktop does not trigger the invite emails. Once set up, you can access the synchronised data in Desktop – see Connect Desktop App to Web App / Cloud via API.
Stage 1 – Administration (in order, Web App)
These tasks are performed by your assigned Subscription Administrators:
- Set Up User Roles – CivilPro ships with pre-defined Roles; customise their permissions to suit.
- Create a Project – you'll be prompted to add users during creation; adding one or two first and the rest later is fine. You can also import setup from one or more existing projects at this point – including Approval Workflows and Contract Notice templates – which saves most of the Stage 2 work.
- Add / Invite Users
- Manage Project Settings
Stage 2 – QA registers
Set up the requisite QA registers – Work and Area Codes, ITPs and Contract Notice templates, and basic approval workflows. Assign a QA supervisor or project manager with appropriate Role permissions (see User Roles). The quickest path is importing data – see Import Data Into Registers. In no particular order:
- Create Basic Workflows for Approvals
- Add Work Types
- Add Area Codes
- Import ITPs from Repository, Importing ITPs into CivilPro Web App (Video Tutorial), Import ITPs from CSV files, or Create ITP
Stage 3 – Optional setup
Depending on your project requirements and how your team uses CivilPro:
- Add Control Lines
- Preparing your Plans (importing Construction Drawings) - importing Construction Drawings
- Add Contacts, and Create Groups (for Addressees)
- Create Custom Fields Using Custom Registers - further sorting and grouping of Lots
After setup
You're ready to create your first Lot and Checklist:
Other features worth exploring early: Set Up and Save Custom Views in Registers, and Mark a Project as Repository. You can manage day-to-day data in either the Web App or Desktop (always the Web App for adding users). If you need help, search the Help Centre or contact our Support team.
Next steps
Work through Stage 1 in order, starting with Roles:
- Set Up User Roles (Add / Edit Roles) – define permissions before anyone is invited
- Create a Project – then create your project, importing setup from existing projects where you can
